ICGA knows that consumer education will always be the most important factor in reducing the impact of littered gum on our environment and generating long-term, sustainable behavior change.

At the same time, however, ICGA members are committed to continuously invest in research focused on developing a gum base that is less adhesive and/or more degradable if it is disposed of improperly. This is an ongoing and challenging process, since a new gum base will only be acceptable to consumers if it continues to meet their requirements in regard to taste, flavor, and quality of the chew, in addition to complying with all necessary food regulations.
